“Saints are ordinary people who do what they do for the love of Jesus, say what they must say without fear, love their neighbor even when they are cursed by him, and live without regret over yesterday or fear of tomorrow.”
Mission Statement: Our Lady of the Assumption School Commits itself to provide an education based on catholic values and academic excellence in a caring and safe atmosphere in partnership with the family and parish community.
Happy All Saint Day!
From the Desk of the Principal…November 1, 2023
Virtue for the Month of November is Courtesy. The theme for the year is Community.
Courtesy is not strictly distinct from the other virtues, but rather a quality to be found in all the virtues. Components of courtesy can be found in humility, reverence and chastity. It is shaped by charity, the form and guide of all the virtues, into the quality of mercy.
In the classroom we are studying the following saints:

Week 30 in Ordinary Time
Romans 8:18-25. The Lord has done marvels for us – Psalm 125(126). Luke 13:18-21.s
The seed grew and became a mighty tree
The two parables of the mustard seed and the yeast, about spectacular growth from humble beginnings, are sometimes applied to the church which, preaching the Gospel to every creature (Matthew 28:19), has spread throughout the world. They might also refer to the individual Christian believer who, even with ‘faith the size of a mustard seed’ (Luke 17:6), may achieve great things for God and grow in the life of the Spirit.
We will know that such growth is taking place if our lives are marked by the fruits of that Spirit –‘love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control’. Lord, I offer you the little that I have in the hope that you will give me the fullness that you are.

Keeping the Promise Alive
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles mandates all clergy, staff, whether paid or volunteer, and all volunteers who work in any capacity with or around children, the elderly, or people with special needs to complete the initial three-hour VIRTUS® Protecting God’s Children for Adults™ program. The program helps clergy, staff, volunteers, and parents to understand the facts and myths about child sexual abuse, how perpetrators groom children and young people, and how they, as caring adults, can learn and implement the important “Five Step Plan” to Protect God’s Children in helping to prevent child sexual abuse.
More than 150,000 clergy, staff and volunteers have participated in these training sessions throughout the five Pastoral Regions of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Please know you are welcome to attend a training at any parish in our diocese. To learn where the training is taking place visit lacatholics.org and under the pull down menu titled PROTECT/REPORT move your cursor to Safe SafeGuard the Children then to Education and Training. In that section you will be able to navigate to all the training sessions. Our region is the Santa Barbara Region.
