Coach and OLA parent Jim Montgomery will be returning this year as lead for both the elementary and middle school teams. 
Registration & Fees: The 2022 cross country season runs from August 22ndthrough October 21st. Cross country is available to all student athletes in 3rd – 8th grade.    
Please complete a sign-up sheet for each child that will be participating as soon as possible by clicking on the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/wQmSG7u5dK.  You must complete a separate form for each child. 
In addition to the sign-up sheet, a completed “Sports Permission Form” must be completed prior to practicing with the team.  The sports permission form is attached.  Please complete the form and either email it to Jim Montgomery atjim@sureteq.com or bring it to the first practice.  
The registration fee for the season is $65 per student which will cover league fees, awards, and an end of season team party. 
Please pay your registration fee directly to OLA in the office. 
 
In addition, student athletes will be required to purchase a running singlet (approximate cost $20) to be worn at all competition meets.  On meet days, the OLA Cross Country Team will be allowed to wear their OLA Cross country gear to school for the day.  We will provide you with a link to order the running singlets as soon as it is made available to us.  

Practices:  Regular practices will be held immediately after school at the OLA field on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm.   Our first practice will be held on Monday, August 22nd.  There is no practice on Monday, September 5th in observance of the Labor Day holiday.  Students should wear their school PE uniform, good running shoes and bring extra water to practice.
Elementary School Meets/Races (grades 3, 4, and 5):  Elementary school meets/races are held on Thursdays and are hosted by different schools at different locations.  OLA is expected to host at least one meet during the season.  There are currently 5 elementary school meets/races scheduled for the season which consist of a 1-mile race.  The tentative dates of the meets are September 15September 22September 29October 6 and October 20.  The meets run approximately 1.5 hours and we will need volunteers to help for the meets.  

Middle School Meets/Races (grades 6-8):  Middle school meets/races are held on Fridays and are hosted by different schools at different locations.  OLA will be hosting the Finals meet this season.  There are currently 6 middle school meets/races scheduled which consist of a 3k run.  The dates of the meets are September 16September 23September 30October 7October 14and October 21.  The meets run approximately 1.5 hours and we will need volunteers to help for the meets.  

Fun Run and Barbecue (elementary and middle school / grades 3-8):  New this year is a fun run and barbecue scheduled for September 9, 2022 at 5:00 pm for all elementary and middle school cross country teams in the league. The event will be held at Arroyo Verde Park and we will update you with more details as they become available.
Parent Help/Volunteer Requirement:  The entire OLA cross country team program is dependent on volunteers!  Each parent is required to volunteer and help as much as possible.  We need help assisting at practices, driving to meets, bringing snacks and water to meets, assisting coaches at meets, and setting up and monitoring OLA hosted meets.  Please indicate your interest in volunteering on the sign-up sheet or contact Dominka Montgomery with any questions regarding volunteering.
